Assistant Director, Adult Trauma Program
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director for Trauma Services and the Adult Trauma Program, in partnership with the Trauma Medical Director and Executive Director for Trauma Services, is responsible for operational and clinical aspects of the trauma program, including maintaining compliance with verification and designation standards. The Assistant Director for the Adult Trauma Program must demonstrate leadership aptitude as well as clinical and trauma program expertise. The Assistant Director has direct responsibility for the trauma performance improvement and patient safety program. They will represent the trauma program on various hospital, community, state, and national committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma management. The Assistant Director will also lead a team of care coordinators to support discharge planning and throughput optimization. Monitors the performance of team members to ensure adherence to University Health System’s policies, protocols, values and guest relations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required. Master’s degree in Nursing desired.
- Must have at least three years clinical experience in trauma nursing.
- Experience with trauma PI in a designated trauma center is required.
- Current training certificates for BLS, TNCC or ATCN are required. TNCC or ATCN Instructor preferred.
- TOPIC is required within 12 months of hire.
- A professional certification in trauma, burn, critical care and/or emergency nursing is required within 12 months of hire.
- NIMS training ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 within 90 days of hire
LICENSURE
Must possess a current license to practice Registered Nursing in the State of Texas. Current training in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) is required.
